What is the Perseverance Trust Scholarship?

The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care at King’s College London is pleased to offer a number of King’s scholarships to its BSc Nursing or Midwifery with registration 3 year undergraduate degree students.

The scholarships have been established through a generous donation from The Perseverance Trust and are based on both financial circumstances and academic standing, and can be used to fund living expenses during the full length of the programme.

Each scholarship is worth £7,500 and is paid over the three years of the course.

Successful candidates will receive £2,500 in each year of study, dependent upon satisfactory academic and clinical placement progression.

Who can Apply?

Applications are invited from students undertaking the 3 year BSc Nursing or Midwifery with registration programmes, who are able to provide evidence of financial need. In order to be eligible to apply, you must be a new home student for fee purposes, who started in September 2020.

In order to be eligible to apply, you should:

  • have exceeded your UCAS offer;
  • provide a written statement of 300-500 words;
  • be a full-time, home, first degree student;
  • have a household income of £25,000 or less;
  • have started your course in September 2021;
  • be in receipt of occupational health and Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) clearance by 31st October 2021.

When will the studentship be paid?

The full scholarship is worth £7,500 in total. Successful candidates will receive £2,500 in each year of study, which will be split into two instalments each.

The first instalment will be released with notification of a successful application, and the second instalment will be released in March 2022, dependent upon continued attendance and satisfactory academic progress.

Scholarships will not cover periods of repeat or interrupted study. 

To apply, you should download the form, complete and return it to the Student Funding Office.

You will need to supply documentary evidence of your financial circumstances with your application as well as a personal statement. If these are not supplied, your application will not be considered.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 1st Oct 2021.
