Position Title: Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach

Position Summary
To play an integral role in the effective operation of the men’s soccer program, develop young men in the North Central College soccer philosophy, to direct aspects of the overall program strategy including recruitment, development, and retaining student-athletes. The assistant men’s soccer coach will also work with the Director, Associate and Assistant Directors of Athletics helping further develop, implement, and evaluate components of departmental athletic events and leadership programs.
Description of Key Responsibilities
Assist the head coach in the role of recruiting new student-athletes. Establish a working list of top recruits in addition to a position-specific list. Set and plan for the accomplishment of overall football and specific position goals for first-year and transfers. Train, assign and evaluate the recruiting work with coaching staff. Maintain active communication with the admission staff and through phone, in-person and electronic means (texting, e-mail, and Datatel). Call, text, e-mail, and write prospects and coaches; record all recruiting action. Knowledge and use of the College-funded Front Rush recruiting service is highly preferred.
Attend high school, club, camps, and showcases for soccer games during the season. Visit high schools to meet with recruits, call and write players and record recruiting action. Provide coaches within the program a list of schools to visit based on priority high school. Require a comprehensive list of school visits to ensure that the program is well represented and known across the state and the region.
Assist with team travel logistics to away competition.
Direct all event practice and competition activities as assigned by the head coach. Develop and maintain film study sessions to further enhance the student-athlete learning experience.
Develop and implement an on-going professional development plan as it relates to soccer.
Perform routine office functions such as typing, filing, and copying.
Participate in logistical activities such as delivering materials to and picking up materials from the campus print shop and mailroom, storage areas, vendor facilities and other locations.
Serve as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and help develop the strength and conditioning program for the players in the program. Help write, edit and develop the training program and provide necessary supervision of other designated assistant strength coaches. Help evaluate progress of student-athletes and adapt workouts accordingly.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Specific and advanced knowledge of soccer.
Knowledge of coaching theory and advanced knowledge of coaching technique.
Skill in communicating with college student-athletes, their parents and other coaching professionals. Ability to effectively recruit qualified student-athletes. Ability to effectively counsel and advise prospective students and their parents regarding numerous aspects of the College.
Strong commitment to a small college environment. Extensive knowledge of the organization and operation of the College, both administratively and academically, especially regarding admission-related activities. Up-to-date knowledge of developments in higher education in general and at schools with which North Central College traditionally competes for new students.
A complete understanding of all institutional, conference and NCAA Division III philosophies and regulations, and compliance with Division III rules required.
Must possess sportsmanship, a strong work ethic, organizational skills, and computer skills.
Ability to communicate in the English language, both orally and in writing, in a manner consistent with professional standards, including direction of and participation in the development of high quality publications which reflect positively on North Central College.
Demonstrate the ability to interact professionally within the department, campus, and the community. Day, evening, and weekend availability is required.

Education/Training
Bachelor’s degree is required
CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required
Experience
Previous coaching and/or experience at the collegiate level strongly preferred
Licenses or Certifications
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving history are required
